This year I’m learning ancient UK crafts and exploring nature – I love an oak and acorns for the potential they have to grow and make even more mighty oaks. Kim at the Holistic Photographer organised a photo shoot with a very talented Make Up Artist. Here I am camouflaging and growing branches and flowers from my head!

Louise at Weaving Wonderment taught me how to wet felt a wild wool collar and create a flower crown. The abundance around us was well celebrated this Solstice.
Close to My Heart Services
My name is Laura and I have always been interested in what makes a family a family.
One of the biggest things to shape a family is pregnancy, the birth and beginnings, and sometimes the beginnings are realised, sometimes not.
Over the years I have experienced for myself and supported others in different pregnancy situations (abortion, miscarriage and birth).
I have delivered newspapers, made sandwiches, ushered in a theatre, been a childminder, a youthworker and a playworker.
I knew what I was doing at work, there was a certain structure and timetable.
And then I was pregnant.
I was the only pregnant one of my friends.
I was trying to find my way. So I tried different things, different classes, I listened to the midwives and didn’t know very much for myself.
The second time around I knew much more, I had prepared myself and studied lots: volunteer doula’ing, lactation support, perinatal bereavement and loss, hypnobirthing.
The services I offer are individually tailored to you and your needs – first time, ninth time, or more.
I work for you as an individual.
Firstly we have a no obligation chat about what you want from your birth support team and go from there.
Get in touch if you want to know more, I’m looking forward to hearing from you.
